Wedding season
Ninety days is not an arbitrary number. Skin cells turn over roughly every 28 days, so three months gives you three full cycles. That is long enough to see real change, and short enough that you will actually stick to it.
The mistake almost every bride makes is to do nothing for two months and then everything at once in the final fortnight. That is the one approach guaranteed to backfire, because a reaction two weeks out has nowhere to hide.
Month one: repair, and change nothing else
This is the month for consistency rather than intensity. You are building a base and, just as importantly, finding out how your skin responds to each thing you introduce.
Inner forearm, a coin-sized amount, leave 24 hours. Do this for every single product you plan to use on the day. It takes one evening and it removes the only genuinely unrecoverable risk in this whole plan.
Warm oil into dry skin, leave it 15 to 20 minutes, then bathe. Oiling dry skin works better than oiling damp skin because the oil is not competing with water to get in.
Pick one and stay with it for the full month. Rotating four packs tells you nothing about which one worked.
Dull skin in wedding photographs is usually dehydration and short nights, not a missing product.
If you are planning any clinical treatment, lasers, peels or threading changes, book them in month one. Never in month three.
Month two: brighten, gently
Now that you know your skin tolerates the basics, this is where you add the ingredient most associated with Indian bridal preparation. Wild turmeric, kasturi manjal, is used before weddings for a reason: unlike kitchen turmeric it is far less likely to leave a yellow cast on skin.
Twice a week is the sweet spot. More than that and you risk the dryness that makes makeup sit badly.
Half a teaspoon kasturi manjal, one tablespoon curd, a few drops of honey. Fifteen minutes, no longer. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat, do not rub.
Swap the curd for rose water and add a pinch of multani mitti. This dries faster, so take it off at ten minutes.
Curd plus a quarter teaspoon of milk cream. Keep the pack damp the whole time. A pack that dries hard on dry skin pulls moisture out as it sets.
The single most common giveaway in wedding photographs is a bright face above an untreated neck.

Month three: protect what you built
The final month is subtractive. You are not adding anything new. You are removing risk.
Keep doing what worked in months one and two, at the same frequency. Resist every single recommendation that arrives from a relative in this period, however well meant.
The final seven days
This is the part people get wrong, so it is worth being blunt about it.
Your final pack goes on no later than four days before. This leaves room for skin to settle if anything mildly disagrees with you.
No scrubs, no packs, no new serums. Cleanse, moisturise, sleep.
Water, a light moisturiser, an early night. Nothing clever.
Lip balm through the day, generously. Lips are the first thing to show dehydration under heavy lipstick and the hardest to fix on the morning itself.
No threading, waxing or facials in the final 48 hours. Redness takes longer to settle than most salons will admit.
What this plan will not do
It will not change your skin tone, and anything that promises to is not being honest with you. What consistent care does is even out texture, calm recent marks and give skin the light that shows up on camera. That is a real and visible difference, and it is worth the three months. It is simply not the same thing as becoming a different colour.
When should I start if my wedding is in two months?
Start at month two of this plan and skip month one, but keep the full final week exactly as written. The last seven days matter more than the first thirty.
Can I use regular haldi instead of kasturi manjal?
You can, but kitchen turmeric is far more likely to leave a yellow tint, which is the opposite of what you want this close to a wedding. Wild turmeric is the variety traditionally used for this reason.
How often should I oil my body?
Twice a week is plenty through months one and two. In the final week, keep it to once and do it at least three days before.
What about the groom?
Exactly the same plan works. Men often skip the neck and hands entirely, which is the one correction worth making.
