How to Use Shikakai Powder for Hair — Ditch Chemical Shampoo in 7 Days

0

Every commercial shampoo contains SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) — a harsh detergent that strips your scalp’s natural oils, causes dryness, and leads to more hair fall over time. Shikakai Hair Wash Powder is the exact opposite.

Why Switch to Shikakai?

  • Zero chemicals — no SLS, no parabens, no silicones
  • Contains 12 Ayurvedic herbs including amla, reetha (soapnut), and shikakai
  • Cleanses WITHOUT stripping natural oils
  • Actually strengthens hair with every wash
  • Reduces hair fall, dandruff, and dryness naturally

The Basic Method (Start Here)

  1. Take 2-3 tablespoons of Shikakai Powder in a bowl
  2. Add warm water gradually, mixing to form a runny paste (like pancake batter)
  3. Wet your hair thoroughly in the shower
  4. Apply the paste section by section to your scalp
  5. Massage gently for 2-3 minutes
  6. You’ll notice a mild natural lather — that’s the reetha (soapnuts) working
  7. Rinse thoroughly with water
  8. Repeat once more if you had heavy oil in your hair

The 7-Day Transition Plan

Your hair needs 1-2 weeks to adjust from chemical shampoo to natural wash. Here’s what to expect:

Day 1-3: Hair might feel different — slightly waxy or less “squeaky clean.” This is normal. Your scalp is adjusting.

Day 4-7: Hair starts to feel more natural. You’ll notice less frizz.

Week 2+: Hair feels genuinely healthier, shinier, and stronger. Less hair in your drain.

Advanced: Shikakai + Amla Hair Rinse

For extra shine and conditioning:

  • 2 tbsp Shikakai Powder
  • 1 tbsp Amla Powder
  • 500ml warm water

Mix and let it soak for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid. Use this as a hair rinse after your regular shikakai wash. Your hair will be incredibly shiny and soft.

Pair It With the Right Oil

The perfect combo: Oil your hair with Hair Growth Oil the night before, then wash with Shikakai in the morning. The herbs in the oil + the herbs in shikakai = a complete Ayurvedic hair care system.
