The Ayurvedic Pre-Shower Oil Ritual — Why Oiling Before Your Bath Changes Everything

0

In Ayurveda, Abhyanga (oil massage before bathing) is considered one of the most powerful daily health practices. When you apply oil before your shower, something magical happens — the warm water opens your pores, allowing herbs and oils to penetrate deeply.

How to Do the Pre-Shower Oil Ritual

  1. Take Good Origins Pre-Shower Body Oil (or Cold Pressed Coconut Oil)
  2. Warm the oil slightly in your palms
  3. Start from your feet and work upward
  4. Use long strokes on limbs, circular motions on joints
  5. Don’t forget your face and neck
  6. Let the oil soak for 10-15 minutes
  7. Shower as normal — the warm water will help the oil absorb
  8. Pat dry gently — don’t rub

Why Pre-Shower, Not Post-Shower?

Post-shower, your pores are already closing. Pre-shower oiling means the oil has maximum time to penetrate while your skin is warm and receptive. The shower then washes away excess oil, leaving behind just the nourished, glowing layer.

The Complete Self-Care Morning

Combine the oil ritual with an ubtan body scrub for the ultimate experience:

  1. Apply pre-shower body oil, wait 10 minutes
  2. Apply ubtan paste on top, gently scrub in circles
  3. Shower — the combination of oil + ubtan + warm water = incredibly soft, glowing skin
