Orange Peel Face Pack for Tan Removal & Vitamin C Glow — 4 Easy Recipes
Orange peel powder is the cheapest vitamin C your skin will ever get. It is also the one most people use wrong, which is why it either does nothing at all or leaves them red and tight.
Here is what it actually does, the four ways to mix it, and the mistakes that make it worse.
What orange peel actually does for skin
Dried orange peel carries two useful things. Vitamin C, which interrupts the enzyme that drives pigment production, and citric acid, a mild fruit acid that loosens the dead surface cells holding on to your tan.
That combination is why it works on dullness and uneven tone. It is also why it is not a bleach. It fades pigment gradually over weeks rather than lifting it in one wash, and anyone promising otherwise is selling something else. For pigmentation that has sat there for years, the treatments with real evidence behind them are the ones the American Academy of Dermatology lists, and a face pack is not among them.
Recipe 1: Quick Tan Removal Pack

- 1 tbsp Orange Peel Powder
- 1 tbsp yoghurt
- Pinch of turmeric (or Kasturi Manjal Powder)
Apply on tanned areas. Leave 20 minutes. Rinse. Use 3 times per week for 2 weeks to remove stubborn tan.
Recipe 2: Vitamin C Brightening Mask
- 1 tbsp Orange Peel Powder
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp rose water
A gentle brightening treatment for all skin types. Honey adds hydration while orange peel delivers Vitamin C for that lit-from-within glow.
Recipe 3: Blackhead & Pore Clearing Scrub
- 1 tbsp Orange Peel Powder
- 1 tbsp Ubtan Powder
- Water to mix
Gently scrub on nose and chin area in circular motions. The citric acid dissolves blackheads while ubtan exfoliates dead skin. Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse.
Recipe 4: Anti-Ageing Night Pack
- 1 tbsp Orange Peel Powder
- 1 tbsp Amla Powder
- Milk to mix
Orange peel’s flavonoids + amla’s antioxidants = a powerful anti-ageing combo. Apply before bed, leave 20 minutes, rinse. The antioxidants work overnight to repair skin.
How often, and how long before anything happens
Two to three times a week. Not daily. Daily acid exposure strips the barrier, and a stripped barrier looks exactly like the dullness you were trying to fix, so people respond by using it more and dig the hole deeper.
Expect reduced roughness inside two weeks, and visible evening of tone somewhere between four and six weeks. If you have used it faithfully for two months with no change, orange peel is not the tool for your pigmentation and more of it will not help.
Four mistakes that make it worse
Who should skip it
Skip it if your barrier is already compromised, meaning stinging, flaking or tightness after plain water. Skip it mid course on prescription retinoids or acids. And skip it entirely if you have a known citrus allergy, which is more common than people expect.
If your skin runs dry, mix with curd or honey rather than water, and drop to once a week.
Common questions
Can I use it every day?
No. Two to three times a week is the ceiling. Daily use of any acid-containing pack damages the barrier faster than it brightens.
Will it remove tan in one use?
No. You may look brighter immediately because dead surface cells have gone, but actual pigment fading takes four to six weeks of consistent use.
Can I leave it on overnight?
No. Twenty minutes. Overnight acid exposure is how mild irritation becomes something that takes weeks to settle.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Topical use in normal amounts is generally considered fine, but ask your doctor rather than the internet.
Why does my powder smell weaker than it used to?
The volatile oils fade over roughly a year. If it has stopped smelling of orange, it has lost most of what makes it worth using.
