About this product

Henna Powder for Hair, Triple-Sifted Natural Mehndi

Henna powder for hair should be one plant and nothing else. Ours is pure lawsonia inermis, triple-sifted so it mixes smooth instead of gritty and releases colour evenly. No PPD, no ammonia, no metallic salts, none of the things that make box mehndi risky on treated hair. It colours, covers greys and conditions in the same step.

Henna Powder, triple-sifted, 100% pure homegrown Lawsonia inermis that delivers rich, natural hair colour while deeply conditioning. Free from chemicals, PPD, metallic salts, or artificial dyes.

Cover greys naturally, add rich auburn-burgundy tones, or simply condition and strengthen your hair. Our henna is made from our own homegrown henna leaves, carefully harvested and triple-sifted for a smooth, lump-free paste every time. Each application coats the hair shaft, adding volume, shine, and strength while delivering beautiful, natural colour. Results deepen with regular use.

Questions

FAQs

How often should I use it?
2–3 times a week for most skin types; once a week for sensitive skin.
What colour will I get?
Pure henna gives a natural reddish-brown that deepens over a few applications and varies with your base hair colour.
Is it free from chemicals?
Yes, it’s 100% pure henna with no PPD, ammonia or metallic salts.
How long do I leave it on?
Mix with warm water, apply, and leave 1–3 hours depending on the depth of colour you want.
Is it 100% pure?
Yes, it’s 100% pure, shade-dried henna leaves with no fillers or chemicals.
What can I mix it with?
Water, rose water, raw milk, yoghurt or honey all work well.
How do you use henna powder for hair colour?
Mix henna with warm water (or tea/coffee) into a yoghurt-like paste, rest 2–4 hours, apply to clean hair, leave 1–2 hours, then rinse. The colour deepens over the next 24–48 hours. See our step-by-step guide.
How do you get brown or black with henna?
Henna alone gives a coppery-red. For brown or black, apply henna first, then a second layer of indigo — the two-step method gives richer, darker shades.
Does henna cover grey hair?
Yes — henna coats and stains grey strands well for a natural, long-lasting colour, with no ammonia or PPD.
Does henna dry out hair?
It can feel drying for some, so condition or oil afterwards. Adding a spoon of yoghurt or a little oil to the paste helps keep hair soft.
How long should I leave henna on?
1–2 hours for good colour. Longer gives a deeper stain — wrap your hair to keep it warm and moist.
Is henna good for hair growth?
Beyond colour, henna helps condition the scalp and strengthen strands, which supports healthier-looking hair over time.

How do I mix henna powder for hair?
Mix with warm water or black tea into a yoghurt-like paste, cover it and let it rest four to six hours for dye release, then apply.
Will this henna give black hair?
No. Pure henna gives a red-orange to deep auburn tone depending on your base colour. Anything sold as black henna contains chemical dye, which we do not use.
Is it safe on coloured or chemically treated hair?
Pure henna is, though colour results vary on treated hair. Always strand test first.
Does henna dry the hair?
It can with repeated use. Mixing in amla or bhringraj, or adding a spoon of curd, keeps it conditioning.
Is your henna powder for hair pure?
Yes. Our henna powder for hair is single-ingredient lawsonia inermis with no PPD, ammonia or metallic salts.
How long does henna powder for hair take to release colour?
Mix henna powder for hair with warm water or tea and rest it four to six hours before applying for proper dye release.

Where this comes from

Ingredients & Benefits

What's Inside Henna Powder

Our Henna Powder is made from 100% pure Rajasthani henna leaves (Lawsonia inermis) — hand-picked from the Sojat region of Rajasthan, known worldwide for producing the highest quality mehndi. Triple-sifted for an ultra-fine texture that gives rich, long-lasting colour.

🌿 Lawsone (Hennotannic Acid)

The primary colouring molecule in henna that binds to keratin in hair, creating a natural reddish-brown colour while strengthening each strand from within.

🧪 Natural Tannins

Astringent compounds that tighten the hair cuticle, seal in moisture, reduce frizz, and add incredible shine and body to every strand.

💧 Gallic Acid

A powerful antioxidant that protects hair from environmental damage, UV exposure, and pollution while maintaining scalp health.

🍃 Natural Mucilage

Plant-based conditioning agents that deeply moisturise hair, improve manageability, and give a smooth, silky feel after every application.

Key Benefits of Henna Powder

  • ✅ Deep Conditioning — Henna coats each hair strand, adding body, volume, and an unbelievable natural shine
  • ✅ Strengthens Hair — Lawsone binds to keratin, reinforcing the hair structure, reducing breakage, and preventing split ends
  • ✅ Scalp Health — Natural antifungal and antimicrobial properties keep the scalp clean, healthy, and dandruff-free
  • ✅ UV Protection — Creates a protective layer on hair that shields against sun damage and environmental pollutants
  • ✅ Triple-Sifted Quality — Ultra-fine powder for smooth, lump-free paste and even colour distribution

How to Use

How to Use Henna Powder

Getting the perfect henna application is easy when you follow these steps. The key is patience — henna needs time to release its colour and bond with your hair.

1️⃣

Prepare the Paste

Mix henna powder with black tea (for richer colour) or water to form a smooth, yoghurt-like consistency. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice. Cover and let the paste rest to release dye.

Rest for 6-8 hours (overnight is best)

2️⃣

Apply Section by Section

Part your hair into sections. Using gloves, apply the paste from roots to tips, ensuring complete coverage. Use a brush or your hands for even application.

Tip: Apply coconut oil on hairline to prevent skin staining

3️⃣

Wrap & Wait

Once fully applied, wrap hair in a shower cap or cling film to keep it moist. The longer you leave it, the deeper and richer the colour.

2-4 hours for colour (30 mins for conditioning only)

4️⃣

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse with plain water until it runs clear. Do not shampoo for 24-48 hours — the colour deepens over the next 2 days. When you do wash, use Shikakai Hair Wash Powder for a chemical-free cleanse.

💡 Pro Tip: For even richer colour, add a tablespoon of coffee powder to the paste. For auburn tones, add hibiscus petal powder. Use once every 3-4 weeks for consistent colour coverage.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What colour will henna give my hair?

Pure henna gives a warm reddish-brown to copper tone. The exact shade depends on your natural hair colour — darker hair gets subtle auburn highlights, while lighter or grey hair gets a more vibrant copper-red.

Can I use henna on chemically treated or coloured hair?

Yes, but we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after chemical treatment. Henna is a natural plant dye that won't react with chemical colours, but giving your hair time to recover ensures the best results.

Will it make my hair dry?

Actually, the opposite! Henna is deeply conditioning. Adding yoghurt or a few drops of Cold Pressed Coconut Oil to the paste makes it even more moisturising.

How long does the colour last?

Henna colour is semi-permanent and typically lasts 4-6 weeks, gradually fading naturally. Regular application every 3-4 weeks keeps the colour fresh and vibrant.

Can I get a darker colour without chemicals?

Yes! Mix henna with Bhringraj Powder and strong black tea for darker tones. You can also add amla powder to the mix for a deeper, cooler brown shade.
